8 March 1957. The Suez Canal reopens for small vessels after the Suez crisis of 1956. The Suez crisis was the chain of events triggered after Egypt's President Gamaal Abdul Nasser nationalized the canal triggering a clash with Egypt on one side and UK,France and Israel on the other.

The Charles de Gaulle Airport,Paris,France,was inaugurated on 8 March 1974. Named after the man who lead the Free French forces in WW 2,Paris-CDG is the 6'th busiest airport in the world.
